About Me

Coffee Kwok (郭家飛), Hong Kong Ceramic Artist

Untold stories can be compared to the formation of sedimentary rock. A place such as the Grand Canyon was only formed after layers of deposition, earthquakes, weathering and erosions. No matter which end does a creation or life stand, when I look at the difficulties of life, I wish people who have the opportunity to look at these artworks would later remember that persistence and tireless attempts will help them climb over every hill.

Red-White-Blue (RWB)

You may find RWB elements on the logo &  some of my works. You may think of RWB bag which originated in Hong Kong in the 1960s and has become a representative of Hong Kong culture.  RWB bag has been used to represent the industrious life of Hong Kong people in the 1950s and 1960s. Despite the cheapness of the material, it is very adaptable and durable to different scenarios as it was used for weatherproofing. In my view, RWB symbolised Hong Kong people's resilient spirit and hardship.

Failure teaches success

"Failure teaches success" (失敗乃成功之母)  is my favorite quote.  Failures in ceramics are inevitable. Every failure is a good experience for me. I'm learned to process these failures and move on.  Just take a deep breath and start over!

"There are no secrets to success. It is the result of preparation, hard work, and learning from failure." by Colin Powell
